I’m grateful for the ministry of Dr. Daniel Davey, pastor of Colonial Baptist Church of Virginia Beach and a perennial favorite speaker at Sarah’s and my alma mater (now my employer). His preaching evidences careful exegesis and exposition, but he takes time to communicate the urgency of practical obedience in a way that is honest and never theatrical.

In a memo to his own congregation, Dr. Davey wrote out some of the leadership’s vision for their music ministry. Entitled “Church Music and Church Unity,” the article offers practical guidance for church members and leaders alike. The strengths of this little article is that it’s written in plain language, is pastoral in perspective and tone, and practical in the best sense.
